       Liabilities –

  1. CPCB has assigned the responsibility for collecting and recycling E-Waste to the Producer.
  2. The producer can fulfill his responsibility by himself or by hiring a PRO (Producer's Responsibility Organization). A CPCB-authorized PRO should be engaged.
  3. Producers (Manufacturers/Importers) must submit their previous import/sales data, based on which targets will be assigned by CPCB. The EPR must also include quarterly data on imports and sales.
  4. For a producer to conduct the seminars yearly, the general public needs to be made aware of the harmful effects of e-waste and how to channel and dispose of it in an eco-friendly manner.

    Brief –

The government has given producers an expanded responsibility through EPR to channel the E-waste generated into the market. Electronics are collected back from producers through buy-back schemes, collection programs, and collection centers. E-waste must be channeled properly so as not to end up in the wrong hands and harm the environment. Degradation of the environment and threat to human health has been the result of improper handling and hazardous dumping. In order to ensure proper channelization, recyclers must be authorized to recycle the waste. The general public should also be approached about the proper disposal of e-waste.
